Translation of text available only in hardcopy is by quotation.
1-Pass Translations
1-Pass Translation™ ($) – Translations for information prepared by qualified translators without checking for completeness, correctness, and readability (pass 1). This service is the low-cost option when it is not necessary for every word and number to be checked. All care is used to prepare the translation but only one pass is made through the document. Re-use technology can be used but translated text is not stored for later use.
3-Pass Translations
3-Pass Translation™ ($$) – Translations for use by narrow readerships. The translation is prepared by one or more qualified translators (pass 1), then another translator checks the translation for completeness and correctness (pass 2), and finally the original translator(s) implement any changes suggested by the proofreaders (pass 3). Readability is acceptable but may not be acceptable for broad consumption. Re-use technology is used when appropriate.
5-Pass+ Translations
5-Pass+ Translation™ ($$$) – Translations for use by the broadest readerships. The translation is prepared by one or more qualified translators (pass 1), the translation is then checked for completeness and correctness (pass 2), the original translator(s) then implement any changes suggested by the proofreaders (pass 3), one or more reviewers then read the translation and suggest changes to improve readability (pass 4), and finally the translator reviews and implements any changes suggested in pass 4 as deemed appropriate (pass 5). Re-use technology is used.
